East Jefferson General Hospital's Foundation's Physician Led Giving Society
The Airhart-Balart Society is a philanthropic community of physicians united by a shared belief: patients come first.
Named in honor of Dr. Richard Airhart and Dr. Luis Balart, the Airhart-Balart Society recognizes two physicians whose leadership, service, and commitment to excellence have profoundly influenced healthcare in our community. Dr. Airhart has dedicated more than four decades to caring for patients at East Jefferson General Hospital and continues to provide compassionate urologic care today, while Dr. Balart's legacy as a renowned gastroenterologist, hepatologist, educator, and researcher continues to inspire physicians and advance medicine through the generations he trained at Tulane.
No one understands the needs of our patients better than the physicians who care for them each day. The Airhart-Balart Society brings together physicians from East Jefferson General Hospital, Tulane, LSU, and affiliated practices to combine their philanthropic support and collectively direct investments that strengthen healthcare, improve outcomes, advance innovation, and enhance the patient experience.
By giving and voting together, Society members determine how philanthropic funds are invested, ensuring physician-led giving has a meaningful and lasting impact on the future of patient care at East Jefferson General Hospital.

Reserved for physicians retired from East Jefferson General Hospital, Lakeside Hospital, East Jefferson Downtown ER, East Jefferson clinics, Tulane Medicine, LSU, and affiliated practices.

- Invitation to the annual Airhart-Balart Society Dinner, where members engage with fellow physicians and vote on how Society funds will be allocated in the coming year.

Reserved for physicians who have been in clinical practice for fewer than five years.

Giving options
Contributions toward Society membership may be made in installments throughout the calendar year. Gifts may be made by check, credit card, electronic transfer, appreciated securities, donor-advised funds, or other approved methods.
Unless otherwise designated by the donor, all Airhart-Balart Society contributions will be directed to the Airhart-Balart Fund at the East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation.
