The Foundation of East Jefferson General Hospital donated $10,000 to the Louisiana Hospital Employee Assistance Fund to assist the state’s hospital employees affected by the recent flooding.

“By recent estimates, more than 5,000 Louisiana hospital employees suffered significant flood damage to their homes,” said Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) President and CEO Paul Salles. “Most of these homes and residences were not insured against an unprecedented 500-year flood of this magnitude, and federal assistance for recovery is significantly limited. These donations will help evacuated hospital employees keep their families safe and continue providing compassionate care to patients in their communities.”

The LHA has established a fund to accept donations to assist hospital employees who were catastrophically affected by the recent flooding. EJGH will be accepting donations through the Foundation to go along with the $10,000 already being donated to help fellow hospital employees during their time of need.

“For healthcare workers, dealing with their personal losses doesn’t get in the way of providing care to patients,” said EJGH President and CEO Dr. Mark Peters. “Our employees were so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support after Hurricane Katrina. We received help from hospitals all over the country in our time of need. We are grateful to be able to help in any way.”

Donations are still being accepted through the Foundation and can be made by clicking here or via checks and cash in person.
