EJGH EMS Director Mike Guillot Arrives in Israel (Continuing Updates)

East Jefferson General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Director Mike Guillot, along with several other local medical and emergency health care professionals from throughout the New Orleans area, traveled to Israel to learn and share best practices for dealing with catastrophic events, from natural disasters to terrorist attacks.

Doctors, nurses, administrators, and paramedics will spend Aug. 5-12 in Israel as part of an initiative by the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans to introduce local medical personnel to Israeli emergency response practices.

Tuesday, Aug. 8
Most delegates once again spent the day with Magen David Adom, Israeli’s national emergency medical services, while Dr. Jeff Elder, Dr. Christopher Voigt, and Dr. James Aiken shadowed the Emergency Department at Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s largest hospital.

Monday, Aug. 7
Delegates spent the day with Magen David Adom, Israeli’s National Emergency Medical Services. Led by Guy Caspi, MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) Chief Instructor/Director of HAZMAT Exercises and Operational Training Department, delegates learned about MDA’s organizational concept and resources, as well as MCI preparedness, Israeli’s coordinated dispatch system, national blood services, and the MDA national mobile command center.
