East Jefferson Medical Center Emergency Medical Services (East Jefferson EMS) is proud to serve as the provider of 911 emergency medical services for the East Bank of Jefferson Parish. Since 1978, our highly trained EMS professionals have responded to emergencies throughout our community, providing timely, compassionate, and advanced pre-hospital medical care to those who need it most.
East Jefferson EMS operates a fleet of Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances equipped with the latest technology and medical equipment available to support patients during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Our ambulances are equipped with advanced cardiac monitors capable of performing and transmitting diagnostic-quality 12-lead EKGs directly to the hospital, allowing emergency physicians to begin evaluating a patient's condition while our team is still in the field. Our fleet also includes automated CPR devices, providing consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest and allowing our crews to focus on other critical aspects of patient care.
Our EMS professionals are extensively trained in emergency and pre-hospital medicine. Paramedics and EMTs continually develop their clinical knowledge and skills so they are prepared to care for patients experiencing medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, cardiac events, respiratory emergencies, and other life-threatening conditions.
Serving our community
East Jefferson EMS is proud to provide emergency medical coverage for the many special events that bring our community together. Each year, our EMS teams provide medical coverage for Jefferson Parish's Mardi Gras parades, helping ensure that residents and visitors can safely enjoy one of the region's most celebrated traditions.
As an integral part of the East Jefferson General Hospital and LCMC Health system, East Jefferson EMS works closely with hospital physicians and clinical teams to provide seamless care from the scene of an emergency through arrival at the hospital.
