Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac rehabilitation takes place as both an inpatient and outpatient. For instance, Patients usually start a light exercise plan within two days, depending on the procedure type. After leaving the hospital, a supervised rehab program is recommended and contact information is provided for a rehabilitation specialist. The program is an gradual one that means exercises will grow more strenuous as your strength, flexibility, and endurance grow.

Phases of Cardiac Rehab

Following heart surgery, our three-phase cardiac rehabilitation program has two goals: education and maintenance. Cardiovascular nurses, therapists, and exercise specialists help you develop the tools to maintain a positive lifestyle.

Phase I

Inpatient program for patients to engage in monitored, low-level exercise and patient education.

Phase II

Our 12-week program includes healthy exercise and education supervised by cardiovascular nurses and an exercise specialist. During this phase, an individualized exercise regimen is planned based on your physical abilities and lifestyle. You will attend three sessions a week, during which we monitor your heart rhythms, blood pressure, and exertion levels. Phase II also includes courses in stress management, nutrition, smoking cessation, and more.

Phase III

Implementing new, healthy habits is only half the battle. We give you the tools to carry them forward through the rest of your life. During phase III, we devise a maintenance program that will ensure that your nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes continue. We monitor your vitals during your exercise program and request regular health check-ins.
