I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension around 30-31 weeks and they kept a close eye on me. I remained on medication and asymptomatic. Eventually it progressed into preeclampsia but the only proof was proteinuria which can only be found by lab tests. My mid wives put me on bed rest and I remained asymptomatic. No headaches, no blurry vision, nothing that screamed “I’m sick”. They induced me early to be ahead of the game even though I seemed I could make it full term...the day after I was admitted to the hospital I began to show signs of HELLP syndrome, which could only be found by lab tests, again. If I had stayed home I would have had no idea! They were on top of it, reporting off to my nurses and the on call doctors to make sure I got the best care possible..and even though my lovely water birth plan had to be shattered, I still had a very smooth delivery thanks to the dedicated staff at Touro and I cannot thank them enough from the bottom of my heart. 💙if they hadn’t been so vigilant by inducing me early, it could have been an emergency. Thank you Heather, Tisha, Dr Mills, and my nurse Kaitlyn. Y’all really were the best!!"
