“ ...My message to future Touro moms is that you are creating life and are in great hands at Touro. We are a part of such a special community - one of 100 years of creating a life together.”

Meet Emily Vanlandingham, proud Touro Mom. Here's her story...

“My water broke at Stein Mart down the street, and I drove myself to Touro with my OB-GYN on the phone, laughing with me the whole way. I was buying pillowcases for family members planning on coming to visit right after the birth. It was so busy that day that I was the 17th person to get an epidural,” added Emily Vanlandingham of Metairie.

Emily chose to deliver at Touro because she loves her Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Rebecca Perret. It’s something Touro hears a lot from new moms. And it makes sense because a woman’s obstetrician is not only a caregiver but a trusted advisor and best friend when it comes to delivering her most precious gift.

“My son was born at Touro 10 years ago. My message to future Touro moms is that you are creating life and are in great hands at Touro. We are a part of such a special community - one of 100 years of creating a life together,” she emphatically said. “Have fun and enjoy the process.”

She calls herself a lover of life and all things New Orleans! Emily knows a little something about living life to the fullest as she participates in numerous civic and social pursuits as a member of the Red Beans & Dead Beans Krewe, founding treasurer of Les Dames d'Escoffier of New Orleans (women in food), producer of Farmstand Live, and founder of The School Bakery.

“My son, Grayson Bleu, was born in December 2011, and his name is a combination of our middle names. Bleu came from Blueberry, which he was the size of a Blueberry when we found out we were expecting. We thought it was only appropriate to take a picture of him at the hospital in a Blueberry hat,” Touro mom Emily said.
