Help us bring Touro to our community! Become a member of Team Touro Volunteers, an employee volunteer program in which Touro team members volunteer at Touro hosted or sponsored community events.

Who

Any employee, contract employee, physician/provider, or volunteer that would like to donate their time to support Touro and the community we serve. Team members will not be paid for their hours volunteered, but we will ask members to report their time to us to keep track of hours worked and recognize team members on an annual basis.

Where

Touro supports several community events throughout the year in which we need volunteer staffing. Examples of these events are:

• Health screenings: Community Health Fairs, hospital events
• Awareness Walks: AHA Heart Walk, Komen Race for the Cure, March for Babies, Alzheimer's Walk etc.
• Event First Aid Tents: French Quarter Fest, Satchmo Fest, Zurich Classic
• Community Events: LPO Concert in the Park, District Clean Up Day, Mother's Day at Audubon Zoo
• Touro hosted events: Amazing Agers, Pampered & Pink at Audubon Zoo, Foundation Casino Night
• Employee events: Ice Cream Day, Hospital Week Events, holiday events

What

Team Touro Volunteers would execute duties both within and outside their profession. If we are providing health screenings, we would utilize clinical staff to perform simple screenings such as blood pressure and glucose screenings. Volunteers will also assist in areas outside their scope such as event setup, handing out education, collateral, and giveaways, talking to community members about services provided by Touro, and assisting with event takedown.

When

Most community events will take place after normal business hours, during nights and weekends. Hospital employee events will take place during day and night shift hours. Marketing will provide a quarterly list of events with date, times, and locations. Team Touro Volunteers are asked to sign up in advance for event staffing.

Why

There are many benefits to volunteering:

• Meet new people. Employees can engage and work with people outside of their department.
• A chance to give back to the community and volunteering is known to have health benefits such as increase in physical activity and mental health boost.
• Free access to New Orleans events. By volunteering at an event, you will get free access to that event. Family members are also welcome to volunteer with employees to enjoy a family friendly event.

Recognizing Team Touro Volunteers

• Each member of Team Touro will receive a free Team Touro Volunteers shirt to wear at the events they sign up to work.
• After each event, the Team Touro member will submit their hours worked.
• Annually, during volunteer week we will recognize and honor each volunteer for their hours worked.
• Employees that hit milestone hours (25, 50, 100, 200, etc.) will receive a commemorative gift.
