Our Mission
To prevent cognitive decline and dementia, to reduce the burden of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Alzheimer’s disease poses a growing public health crisis, especially in regions like Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. In Louisiana alone, over 92,000 people aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, and more than 200,000 family caregivers are providing 363 million hours of unpaid care—valued at $4.8 billion. The toll on state resources is significant, with Louisiana Medicaid bearing $765 million in Alzheimer’s-related costs annually. With Alzheimer’s prevalence expected to triple nationwide by 2050, the Healthy Brain Initiative is a vital step toward prevention. By encouraging science-backed habits—such as aerobic and mental exercise, proper diet, and sleep—this initiative aims to reduce risk by over 50% and promote "SuperAging" into the 90s.
