Touro’s Senior Care program is a member of Nurses Improving Care
for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE). NICHE provides education resources and
evaluation tools for nursing teams and promotes excellent care for older
adults. Our NICHE membership indicates that our staff has received specialty
training to care for senior patients, ensuring you receive the very best care.
Accredited senior emergency care
Touro’s Emergency Department has earned the Geriatric Emergency Department
Accreditation (GEDA) from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Touro was the first hospital in Louisiana to earn this distinction which
is the highest level of its kind. The Senior Emergency Care program provides
geriatric trained physicians and nurses, and enhanced emergency room features
designed to care for patients over the age of 65.
