Understanding your cancer treatment options
There are many forms of cancer, with many types of treatment available.
We treat the whole person and not just the disease, and we involve you
in any decisions you wish to make. We’re proud to offer the following
cancer treatment options and services:
Radiation
Radiation therapy is used to treat more than half of all cancer patients,
and we offer the most advanced options in the area. Our cancer center
is accredited by the American College of Radiology. Radiation therapy
is an effective treatment that can be combined with surgery. This method
beams cancer cells with waves such as X-rays or gamma rays that damage
the genetic material in cancerous cells.
Surgical
Surgery is the foundation of cancer treatment for most patients. It can
be used on its own or combined with other treatments. Surgery can be used
for diagnosing, staging, treating, debulking, and easing symptoms and
side effects of cancer. We use minimally invasive cancer surgeries when
possible, including cryosurgery, laparoscopic surgery, laser surgery,
and microscopically controlled surgery.
Breast Cancer Care
Our team offers many options that may be right for you. Our oncoplastic
surgery prevents many women from requiring a mastectomy, while our radioactive
seed localized breast surgery is used to identify problems at early stages.
We utilize hidden scar surgery to minimize visible scarring. In addition,
we also offer reconstructive breast surgery to restore one or both breasts
after a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or congenital deformity.
Lung Cancer Care
Our lung cancer care center offers lung cancer screenings to detect the
disease early on. We also have an interventional pulmonology program that
treats lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. In addition, our smoking
cessation program can help you be proactive and lower your chance of developing
lung cancer by quitting smoking.
Cancer Rehabilitation
We’re here to help you move on after your cancer treatment. Cancer
rehabilitation can decrease pain and improve your well-being. These treatments
are designed to help you with the after-effects of cancer treatment. We
treat lymphedema or the severe swelling of the arm, and our anodyne therapy
uses light to increase local blood circulation to relieve pain and other symptoms.
