Procedures and positive outcomes

Brain and spine care positive outcomes

If your provider has told you that you need any of these procedures, we want you to know that East Jefferson General hospital is ready to care for you! Below, you will also find information about how well our patients do after these procedures.

  • Endovascular Procedure: A minimally invasive surgery using tiny incisions to remove blood clots, improve blood flow, and treat aneurysms.
  • Cerebral Angiogram: A minimally invasive test that uses x-rays and a type of dye (contrast) to produce pictures of the vessels in the brain.
  • Thrombectomy: A minimally invasive surgery that uses catheters to remove a blood clot and improve blood flow.
  • Aneurysm Clipping: A procedure in which a clip is placed at the base of a aneurysm to close off an aneurysm.
  • Aneurysm Coiling: A minimally invasive procedure that involves placing small metal coils inside of the body of the aneurysm to stop blood flow into the aneurysm to prevent re-bleeding or rupture.
  • Carotid Endarterectomy: A surgical procedure that removes plaque from inside of the artery to restore blood flow.
  • Carotid Artery Stent: A minimally invasive procedure that involves placing a small metal mesh tube (stent) into the artery to keep the artery open.
  • Transcarotid Artery Stent (TCAR): A minimally invasive procedure that involves placing a small metal mesh tube (stent) into the artery to keep the artery open. A TCAR involves reversing blood flow to the brain to reduce risk of stroke during the procedure.

Your provider will discuss with you to decide which procedure type is best for your specific situation.
